About Dutch Youth Baseball

Dutch Youth Baseball registration is now open!

Visit the Dutch Youth Baseball Team Store for Player and Fan Apparel.

Dutch Youth Baseball provides 4th-6th grade baseball players from the communities of the MOC-Floyd Valley school district opportunities to participate in practices, regular season games, and tournaments. Our goal as a program is to develop teamwork and sportsmanship, develop a unified set of baseball skills and fundamentals, and provide opportunities for fun and challenging competition. This program is not a substitute for each community’s recreation program or league, instead this program is a supplement to help grow and develop your child as an aspiring baseball player.  This program works as a way to develop baseball players within the MOC-Floyd Valley Dutch Baseball program, while supporting all our local communities’ recreation programs.

5th & 6th Grade Baseball

Practices

  • 3-4 practices/week between May 20 and July 11. In May, we offer evening practices, and in June and July, we offer morning practices.
  • We will use the MOC-Floyd Valley HS baseball field in Orange City.
  • Cost $50.

Regular Season Weeknight Games

  • DYB regular season baseball games are weeknight baseball games against other local area communities.
  • Each participant will play at least 10-12 regular season baseball games between May 27 and July 11.
  • Regular season games focus on providing players the opportunity to play multiple positions. Roster sizes for each game will be kept to 10-12.
  • We will play as many double headers with other area teams as much as we can so our players get ample playing time.
  • Orange City does not offer recreation baseball for 5th and 6th grade.
  • We encourage you to support your town’s recreation program.
  • If your town does not have a program, you are welcome to participate with Dutch Youth Baseball.
  • Cost $50.

Tournaments

  • DYB will provide players the opportunity to play in local area tournaments.
  •  A list of tournament options will be made available for players to sign up for.  By signing up for a tournament means your child will commit to playing that weekend if they are placed on the roster.
  • A player is not guaranteed to be on the roster for every tournament they sign up for.
  • Players will not have an equal amount of tournaments.
  • Rosters will be kept to a maximum of 12 players to maximize playing time for all participants. We want to provide an ample amount of playing time in the field and at bats for players on the tournament roster.
  • Due to pitching restrictions in many of the tournaments, a number of pitchers on the roster is important.
  •  We will create two teams if there are enough registered participants. Strong participation numbers and a team with a strong number of pitchers increases the opportunities to form two teams.
  • The cost of tournaments is above and beyond the cost of practices and regular season games.
  •  Each tournament will cost $25. Payment will be due at a later date.

4th Grade Baseball

Tournaments

  • A list of 5-6 tournaments will be made available for players to sign up for. A player is not guaranteed to be on the roster for every tournament. We want to provide an ample amount of playing time in the field and at bats for the players on the roster. A strong amount of pitchers on the roster is important because there are often pitching restrictions in each of the tournaments.
  • These tournaments are separate from your community’s baseball recreation program weekday schedule.
  • The DYB director and 4th grade coaches will arrange extra DYB practices above and beyond the community's recreation program.
  • Each tournament will cost $25. Payment will be due at a later date.
